Shoppers seek out stores' early holiday sales

Posted: Updated:

Retailers across Middle Tennessee are already slashing their prices this holiday season, days before Black Friday and weeks before they typically do.

At The Avenue, Murfreesboro's newest outdoor shopping center, shoppers are taking notice.

"[I've] got jeans, tops... I saved 50-some dollars on the sales," said one shopper.  "The sales are a lot better and they're earlier, [they're] starting earlier than they normally do."

Another said, "I think they're having sales earlier this year than normal.  I think Black Friday is still going to be a big deal but I think this year, before and after [Black Friday], is also going to be a big deal."

Angie Carter, general manager of The Avenue, said it's not customers' imaginations.  Stores are doing whatever they can to lure in shoppers.

"We keep coupons in our management office and we actually had to have a separate table for all the offers that the retailers are offering this year," she told News 2.

The following Web sites offer tips on how to find the best deals this Black Friday as well as tips on how to avoid scams:
