DICKSON, Tenn. – A well known drive-in movie theater in Dickson that has been around for decades is for sale online.
The Broadway Drive-in opened on Highway 70 in 1950 and for the last six decades, has been operated by the same family.
Health problems in the Brown family, among other things, forced them to open the theater late this year and a Facebook page gave them the idea to sell.
"Someone brought a Facebook page to our attention and it had quite a few people on there saying this, how they miss the drive-in, they want the drive-in to open and it really touched us, but there was some negative things saying if we couldn't run it maybe we should sell it to somebody who could run it," recalled Johnna Brown.
Selling the theater, however, is something the family is reluctant to do.
"It would, like I've told customers that come in, I don't want you to leave," Johnny Brown told News 2.
The drive-in is truly a family business and even his grandchild, Jaycee and Reece work in the concession stand, which was remodeled in 1994.
A lot has changed over the years.
Old sound boxes to hear the movie have been replaced by an FM radio signal.
In 2008, the ticket booth was remodeled and the movie screen was repainted.
The properly is for sale on CraigsList.com for $1.9 million.
