NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After years of planning, a new Walmart opened to customers in north Nashville Wednesday.

The new store, located on Dickerson Pike near Skyline Medical Center, opened its doors at 8 a.m.  A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 7:30 a.m.

The new location is adding 250 jobs to the north Nashville area.

Walmart Manager Fatorma Siafa told News 2 the new Walmart is customer friendly.

"As you enter the building in both entrances, you're going to see a wider, you know, aisle for our customer," Siafa said.  "Our customer has spoken and the company has listened to what the customer is saying.  If you walk in the building you're going to see a more-friendly atmosphere for our customers."

Siafa also said the shopping experience will be simpler with departments grouped together.

"I think this process is going to make it much, much easier for our customer to have, you know, kids or just want to get in and get out find what they need and get out of the building," he said.

Walmart is working on changing all stores to match the new design at the new Dickerson Pike location.
