Paul finding Internet ripe for campaign gifts

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republican Rand Paul has banked an additional $236,000 for his Senate campaign using the same type of Internet fundraiser that helped finance his father's presidential race last year.

That money came in on Wednesday in a 1-day fundraiser that pushed Paul's total contributions to nearly $1.7 million heading into next year's primary election.

Campaign manager David Adams said Paul, son of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, has raised $570,000 so far in the fourth quarter.

Financial reports filed with the Federal Election Commission showed Paul was the leading fundraiser in the third quarter when he banked more than $1 million.

Paul and Secretary of State Trey Grayson are facing off in the Republican primary race.
