NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The man accused of dragging a Metro police officer as he attempted to evade arrest late Wednesday night is now behind bars.
Jeffery Story, 43, was arrested Sunday night.
Story was behind the wheel of a vehicle when Metro Police Officer Carlos Anderson was dragged 35 yards during a traffic stop in east Nashville late Wednesday night.
After 7 p.m. Sunday, marshals and Metro police received a tip that Story was driving on Spring Street. He fled across the Jefferson Street Bridge.
A short time later, officers tried to pull him over at 5th Avenue and Garfield Street. Police say Story rammed a patrol car and sped away.
Around 8:30p.m., police were tipped off that Story was near the Dollar General on Rosa Parks pretending to be homeless.
Police say he had changed clothes and initially gave officers a false name when they approached him.
Story was taken into custody without further incident.
He is charged with criminal homicide for Wednesday's incident, and he is also charged with resisting arrest, domestic assault and theft.
Story is being held in jail on $518,000 bond.
