Alan Jackson, Cracker Barrel team up to sell more than records

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country fans in town for the annual CMA Awards had a chance to meet Alan Jackson Tuesday at a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store set up temporary in downtown Nashville.

The “pop up” store located in the old Acme Feed store at the corner of First Avenue and Broadway features the newly introduced Alan Jackson Collection and on the eve of the CMA Awards, the superstar himself made an appearance.

Cracker Barrel’s Alan Jackson collection is part of a not-so-subtle yet non-traditional marketing tool that puts one of Middle Tennessee's best known brand names in tune with one of Nashville’s biggest stars.

In addition to Jackson’s CDs, the collection includes everything from toy trucks to Christmas ornaments that look like the singer's boots.

"What we have done is built an entire lifestyle collection of 40 products - home decor, jewelry - and they all reflect the lifestyle that Alan has with his family,” Cracker Barrel Communications Director Julie Davis explained.

Davis said they’ve never done a temporary store before but did so to celebrate CMA week.

“We want to celebrate Alan Jackson and our partnership with the Alan Jackson collection," she added.

Jay Theriot of San Antonio was among those in line to see Jackson.

When asked if he would buy an Alan Jackson toy truck or an ornament that resembles his boots he said “absolutely.”

The temporary “pop up” store will be open until 6 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

The 43rd Annual CMA Awards are set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sommet Center.  The show will air live on News 2.

News 2 will be live from the red carpet beginning at 4 p.m. with a special CMA pre-show at 6:30 p.m.

After the show, News 2 will have a special one hour edition wrap up from back stage beginning at 10 p.m.

As the show kicks off, you can check out photos from the red carpet, video and more at MusicCityTV.com.

Watch News 2 at 10 p.m. Tuesday night for a special News 2 Extra previewing the CMA Awards.
