NASHVILLE, Tenn. - An Alabama woman has been indicted on charges she kidnapped a newborn just four days old.
Tammy Renee Silas, 39, has been in custody since October 2 after police found the week-old infant, Yair Anthony Carrillo, at her home in Ardmore, just over the Tennessee line.
He was kidnapped and his mother stabbed three days earlier at their Nashville home.
Court filings made available on Thursday show the grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday.
Monday, Silas' attorney told a judge that she had tried commit suicide in jail and was certain that mental health medications have been withheld from her.
Silas wasn't indicted on any charges related to the stabbing of the infant's mother, Maria Gurrola.
