NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 23-year-old White Bluff woman has been identified as the victim killed in a head on collision early Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 at McCrory Lane.

Metro police have issued an arrest warrant charging the other driver, 29-year-old Ian McClellan, with vehicular homicide by intoxication.

Police said McClellan, of Centerville, was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 40 West when he collided with a car driven by Katie Kerr shortly after 2 a.m.

Kerr, who was wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding officers said McClellan smelled of alcohol and subsequently told detectives he had been drinking since around 3 p.m.

McClellan recalled having two margaritas and several beers throughout the day.

Broken beer bottles were also recovered from his Jeep.

McClellan was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center from where he is expected to be released later on Wednesday and booked into Metro jail.

I-40 West was shutdown for several hours, and drivers had to exit at McCrory Lane and then get back on the interstate.

The westbound lanes of Interstate 40 reopened just after 6 a.m.

The collision is the third deadly wrong-way crash in Davidson County since March.

On March 24, a couple and another car collided on Interstate 24 in the Joelton area.

A 33-year-old Iowa woman was killed and her husband critically injured.

Just two days later, two people were killed in a fiery collision after someone was driving the wrong way on Interstate 65 near Rivergate Parkway.

After the deadly accidents, Metro police said they would work with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and Metro Public Works officials to see if signage needs to be updated or added.
