Web site matches singles by credit score

As money can often make or break a relationship or marriage, there's a new Web site using credit scores in the matchmaking process.

CreditScoreDating.com's motto is "Credit scores are sexy."

"In economic hard times, it's critical.  Your credit score means a whole lot," said Joe Armstrong, who is married.

According to a recent survey, more than 80% of singles are being more selective because they don't want to get strapped with their partner's bad credit.

CreditScoreDating.com weeds out low-credit score holders to match financially sound daters with a similar counterpart.

Some think the Web site misses the point.

"I think that misses the point of dating," Michael Fulbright told News 2.  "You're out to date the person and not the wallet."

"You wanna learn about personality more about them than money," Fulbright's girlfriend, Allison Stokke, said.

Armstrong argues money is important in all relations.

"Most of the time the arguments are about money.  I've learned," he said.  "I keep my money separate from my wife, so we get along just fine now."

Garner is a therapist and does a lot of couples counseling.

He said tough times can make problems at home even tougher.

"It's good to consider someone who manages money well, someone who manages a household well," he said.
