The local attorney who detectives believe faked his own death last November and fled Tennessee is now in Arizona.
Metro police said detectives have confirmed a report from William Grothe's family that the 62-year-old was admitted to a medical facility for psychological evaluation.
Grothe was last seen leaving locally his office on Music Square East just after 12 Noon on November 19.
That afternoon, some of his personal belongings, including jewelry, driver's license and credit cards, were found in a tied plastic shopping bag in the front yard of a home on South 5th Street.
Then, that night, Grothe's car was found parked and locked in Shelby Park, near the boat ramp.
There were no signs of a struggle or foul play and a search of the area turned up nothing. Metro police have said the motive for Grothe's decision to disappear is not clear although detectives said his life insurance payout would have been in the $1 million range.
No charges against Grothe have been placed at present, although charges are expected in the coming days, police said.
