State Senator Rosalind Kurita says her election was "stolen" and has registered as a write-in candidate after democrats declared her primary victory invalid.
Kurita, of Clarksville, won her primary by 19 votes over attorney Tim Barnes last month but over the weekend, the state Democratic Party overturned the win and voted to let county party officials pick the winner.
Barnes' attorneys had argued that Kurita's win was aided by heavy involvement by republicans and by poll workers who misdirected voters about which primary to vote in.
The panel called for a new nominee to be named by joint convention of the democratic executive committees in Montgomery, Cheatham and Houston counties.
Monday was the deadline for write-in candidates to register to have their votes counted.
