Steven Mark, 47, is also charged with child abuse in the case.MT. JULIET, Tenn. – A Mt. Juliet mother and pediatrician facing charges in connection to the death of her young daughter has had her medical license suspended.
Deborah Mark, 39, was arrested earlier this month and charged with first degree murder and several counts of child abuse after her four-year-old daughter, Kairissa, was found unresponsive and later died.
Neither Mark nor her attorney attended Tuesday's hearing in which the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners voted to suspend her license, effective immediately.
To get her license reinstated in the future, Mark would have to go in front of the board.
Police said Kairissa Mark's injuries were the worst case of child abuse they'd ever seen. Authorities believe Deborah Mark delivered the fatal blow that resulted in her death.
The child's father and Mark's husband, 47-year-old Steven Mark, is also charged with child abuse in the case.
Both remain in the Wilson County jail.
