Borders cutting 120 at LaVergne facility

LAVERGNE, Tenn. – A Borders Books and Music spokesperson has officially notified Tennessee labor officials it plans to cut 120 workers from its Tennessee Distribution Center in LaVergne.

Borders alerted employees of the job cuts in late December.

The positions will be consolidated to another site in Carlisle, Pennsylvania next month.

Borders said eligible employees will be offered a severance package and the company is working to find displaced workers new jobs.

Employees can also move to the new Pennsylvania facility although the company will not pay for relocation expenses.

The Borders distribution center has been in LaVergne for 20 years.
