NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Court and utility records show former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair, who was murdered by his mistress at a condo he was renting, paid the rent at a different Nashville condo occupied by at least one other woman.
Twenty-year-old Sahel Kazemi shot and killed the former NFL star before taking her own life in the early morning hours on July 4.
Their bodies were discovered at the condo off Second Avenue a few hours later.
In the days after their deaths, friends said Kazemi suspected McNair, who was married, was having a second affair with another young woman.
Last week, Gianikas Property Management filed a claim calling for McNair's estate to pay $1,750 in rent, late charges and property damages on a second condo, located on Parthenon Avenue off West End Avenue.
According to the court filings, rent was late in June and never paid in July.
Records show McNair co-signed the original lease in October for his cousin, Ray White, but electric bills were charged to a woman named Adrianne Hobbs from October 24 through August 7, when the electricity was shut off.
Victoria Clay, current manager for the property where the condo is located, told News 2 that before his death, McNair would come to the office and pay the $1,250 rent each month in person.
She said it wasn't until a month or so into the 12-month lease they realized a man wasn't living in there.
"We found out slowly as [the lease] progressed," said Clay. "Neighbors said there was a girl coming and going with Steve and then maintenance men had seen them outside walking the dog. That's how we found out there were girls living in the unit."
Clay said there was another woman also living in the unit named Valerie Skelton.
According to the manager at Buffalo Billards located on Second Avenue in downtown Nashville, both women are bartenders.
Gianikas Property Management said they did not question the lease situation because it involved McNair.
"[We looked] the other way," said Clay. "We just didn't want to create any kind of confusion."
It is not clear how Hobbs, 26, and McNair knew each other.
After McNair's death, the management company said they let White out of the lease.
Both women moved out by the end of July.
Clay said they have been unable to reach White but if he pays the $1,750, they'll drop the claim.
News 2 attempted to contact the attorney of McNair's wife, Mechelle, regarding the case but was unsuccessful.
