Detectives seek public's help in solving 12-year-old's murder

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A $1,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to the gunmen responsible for the July murder of Mikia Woodland.

The 12-year-old was shot and killed during a home invasion robbery at her home on Maury Street, just south of downtown Nashville.

Mikia's grandmother reported she was met by several young black men dressed in white t-shirts and blue jeans in the early morning hours on July 9.

The men ordered her back to her bedroom and as she was calling police from her cell phone, she heard several shots.

Moments later, another granddaughter, a nine-year-old, called out her name.

The grandmother then discovered that Mikia had been shot.

Mikia was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information on the murder is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or investigators working on the case at 615-862-6993.
