SPRING HILL, Tenn. - Some automakers could be days away from losing their jobs.
A top General Motors executive said 1,600 workers will lose their jobs in the next few days. A plant spokesperson said some of the layoffs will happen at Spring Hill and its most likely white-collar employees will be impacted. The layoffs come in the midst of GM's restructuring.
GM has until June 1 to cut costs in order to get more government help.
Executives have said the alternative may be bankruptcy.
