Doctors say wrinkle fillers could be hot gift item

Looking for the perfect gift for your loved one?  Mid-State plastic surgeons say wrinkle fillers are a hot item this Christmas season.

Dr. Dwayne Lett, plastic surgeon at The Lett Center in Lebanon, offers a full range of fillers.

He said fillers, which are injected into the skin to re-volumize the face and fill in unwanted lines, have become hugely popular.

Dr. Lett said he also notices his patients' self esteem increases after the procedure.

"When a woman comes in, one thing I notice is she's looking down and by the time she leaves the office, she's already able to do more eye contact.  She feels more confident," he told News 2.

While some cosmetic procedures require extensive surgery and weeks of downtime, fillers are non-invasive and have fewer side effects.

"A person can have a procedure done within 15 to 45 minutes in a physician's office," Dr. Lett said.  "You don't have to miss a meal the night before, don't have recovery time [and] don't have bruising."

Fillers are not permanent and most patients get a few touchups a year.

While the cost ranges from $400 to $2,000 each, it's a price Dr. Lett said many baby boomers are willing to pay.
