Hermitage Hotel restroom named nation's best

The finest restroom in America, according to internet voters, is at the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville.

The restroom at the five-star hotel was one of 10 finalists chosen based on exceptional hygiene, style and open access to the public.

The men's restroom, located outside the Oak Bar on the Hermitage Hotel's lower level was remodeled in 1930 and features lime green and black leaded-glass tiles, lime green fixtures, an authentic terrazzo floor and a two-seat shoeshine station.

It has been the setting for music videos, business and political negotiations and even wedding photos.

A restroom at the 21C Museum Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky came in second followed by the Brio Restaurant in Rockford, Illinois and the Signature Room at the 95th in Chicago.

The Best Restroom Award was created in 2001 by Cincinnati-based Cintas Corporation.

Previous winners have included restrooms at Notre Dame University, the Grand Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi and the airport in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Tens of thousands of votes were cast this year.
