Building evacuated after bomb threat at MTSU

Students, faculty and staff were evacuated from the Business and Aerospace Building on the campus of Middle Tennessee University in Murfreesboro Friday morning after a bomb threat was reported to police.

The threat was called into authorities around 11:30 a.m. and the building was evacuated.

MTSU officials alerted students and campus faculty and staff about a half an hour later via the university's text-message alert system.

Remaining classes in the building were also canceled for the rest of the day.

Police remained on the scene for most of the day and were able to clear the scene around 3:30 p.m.

Students and faculty were also allowed to return the building and collect their belongings.

An investigation is underway.
