HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Mitch Slauter's two-out single scored Kyle Hann in the 17th inning, giving Mississippi State a 2-1 victory over Missouri Tuesday night in the opening round of the SEC baseball tournament. The game lasted more than 4½ hours and ended at 12:25 a.m. The 17 innings matched the longest game in tournament history with Auburn-Arkansas in 1994.

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Hunter Melton hit a three-run homer and had an RBI single to help Texas A&M defeat Florida 6-3 on Tuesday in the Aggies' first appearance in the SEC baseball tournament. A&M starter Daniel Mengden overcame two balks and a wild pitch to go the distance, throwing 117 pitches.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Southern California and San Jose State shared the lead at 4-under 284 after the first round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships on Tuesday. USC, which won titles in 2003 and '08 and was runner-up to Alabama last year, came in as the top-ranked team in the country, while San Jose State was 48th.

ATLANTA (AP) - Evan Gattis hit a two-out, pinch-hit homer in the ninth to send the game to extra innings and Freddie Freeman won it in the 10th, sending the Atlanta Braves to their fifth straight win, 5-4 over the slumping Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Freeman blooped a two-out single off Brian Duensing to bring home Jason Heyward.
