FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A state grand jury has indicted Republican state Rep. Ben Waide on two counts of violating state campaign finance laws. Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway says Waide accepted $10,000 in campaign contributions from a company where he is a partner and that he faces a first court appearance Aug. 29.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky man who went on a nighttime fishing excursion ended up having to be rescued when his boat got trapped on the edge of a dam on North Elkhorn Creek near Georgetown. Fire officials say the boat got jammed on a log and that kept the vessel from going over the dam into a rocky area where several drownings have occurred.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Jefferson County jury has recommended the death penalty for a Louisville man - Larry Lamont White - who was convicted of raping and killing a woman back in 1983. Reports indicate it is the first time in nearly a decade that a Jefferson County jury has recommended sending a defendant to death row.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky scientists and engineers are collaborating on a project involving research aboard the International Space Station.The University of Louisville says a NASA grant is making possible the joint project with scientists and engineers from the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University.
