More restaurants to stay open Christmas Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For many families, having Christmas dinner at home is a tradition, but more of them are looking for options to eat out on Christmas Day, and local restaurants are listening.

Restaurants like Buca di Beppo in Cool Springs see the holiday as an opportunity.

For the first time, the restaurant will be open on Christmas Day, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Alex Rodriguez, Managing Partner at Buca di Beppo, told News 2, "We're going to be serving our full menu just like we do every other day."

Rodriguez said the family-style Italian restaurant has already taken about 200 reservations for Saturday.

Latitude restaurant inside the Marriott at Vanderbilt is open every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Guests can get a sit-down holiday meal for less than $20.

Executive Chef Dean Donnell told News 2, "We're going to do a plated meal for Christmas.   We're going to do a traditional meal with turkey gravy the fixings."

According to Donnell, for many families, it's about time management, and eating out just makes more sense.

He added, "Just timing is everything nowadays, and it's a little more time spent with the family, and you go out, and it's taken care of for them, and that's it."

Traditional or not, Rodriguez would agree that people expect options, even on Christmas.

"It is what the public wants now, and you'd be amazed with all the phone calls and all the people calling to make reservations," he said.  "It's just amazing."

Buca di Beppo is located on Galleria Boulevard in Franklin.

Latitude is located on West End Avenue and is normally open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the weekend.
