Titans say no truth to Tennessean report

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans say there is no truth to a report that suggests Vince Young is no longer welcome at the team's training facility.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, the team said, "Tennessean reports indicating that Vince Young is not welcome at Baptist Sports Park are incorrect."

Citing unidentified sources, the paper reported on its Web site that Young was in the training room Monday when he was asked to leave the facility by the quarterbacks coach.

The Titans statement said Young was only told he didn't need to attend a team meeting and was "free to leave."  Injured players aren't typically required to attend team meetings, the statement continued.

The Titans said Monday's meeting was to talk "about Young's situation and how the team would move forward" one day after the former first round draft pick got into a heated exchange with coach Jeff Fisher and stormed off the field following the team's overtime loss to Washington.

Fisher announced Monday that Young needs season-ending surgery on his right thumb.  He was placed on injured reserve effective Tuesday.

Rookie quarterback Rusty Smith will start for the Titans in Houston this weekend.
