MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Lawyers for a Memphis man accused of killing six people want to interview children who survived the 2008 attack.
The defense for Jessie Dotson made the request during a hearing Wednesday before Criminal Court Judge James Beasley Jr. The Commercial Appeal reported the judge told attorneys on both sides to try to agree on the matter or he would rule on the motion in two weeks.
Three children were critically injured. 2 of them are now 7 and 12 years old and the other is not old enough to be questioned.
Prosecutors said the children's guardian is concerned about Dotson's lawyers questioning them.
The 35-year-old Dotson told police he killed his brother with a shotgun during an argument and then began eliminating witnesses. Four adults were fatally shot and two children were stabbed and beaten to death.
