KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Knox County grand jury has indicted two men on first-degree murder charges in the killing of a teen who was cradling her infant nephew when she was shot.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported 25-year-old Samuel Glass and 21-year-old Akeem Deshawn Dubose were being held in jail on probation violation charges when the indictments were returned July 21. They were scheduled for court appearances on Wednesday.

They're accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Dachanna Dotson, who was on the front porch of a home early June 9 trying to calm the baby, who couldn't sleep in hot weather.

The girl ran inside when someone in a car began shooting, but a bullet struck her and she collapsed in a hallway and later died at a hospital. The baby escaped injury.
