MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Memphis police spokeswoman says a Bartlett narcotics detective fatally shot a Memphis man while attempting to serve a warrant.
The Commercial Appeal reports police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said Memphis police officers were called to the scene at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Rudolph said the detective was approached by a man at the house where the warrant was to be served and that the man had an unidentified weapon.
Lt. Rory Mack of the Bartlett police said the officer fired once and the man died at the scene. Mack said the Bartlett force had notified the Memphis police department they would serve the warrant in Memphis jurisdiction.
