MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - More than 14,300 tires have been turned in as part of Memphis' redemption program.
Residents get $1 for every tire turned over, and some people waited overnight Monday to participate.
The program is designed to get individuals and neighborhood groups to clean up illegal tire dumps.
According to The Commercial Appeal, enough funds are left to collect about 42,300 more tires.
Each person is limited to dropping off 100 tires per delivery and 200 tires per day.
More than 56,000 tires were turned in last December as the program began.
