MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – An investigation is underway in Murfreesboro after a three-month-old boy died at an unlicensed home daycare.
Murfreesboro police responded to the home on Buck Cherry Way at about 12 Noon Thursday.
They learned the baby had already been taken to the hospital after he was found unresponsive.
He died at the hospital.
Police spokesman Kyle Evans said they do not suspect foul play pending an autopsy and are conducting a "routine unattended death investigation."
"The actual residence was an unlicensed daycare facility that was not licensed with the state and had not been inspected and so on, so we are working with DCS to determine if action should be taken in that regard," he said.
Department of Children's Services spokeswoman Calista Doll told The Daily News 2 Journal the investigation is ongoing.
"We are working closely with [the Department of Human Services] and law enforcement on this," she told the paper.
Charges have not yet been filed against the daycare.
