Sumner Co. doctor faces alleged victims in court

Posted:

GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Sumner County doctor arrested on charges he inappropriately touched several of his patients appeared in a Gallatin courtroom Wednesday.

Dr. Charles Cowden faces two counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery

In all, four women have come forward saying the 77-year-old doctor inappropriately touched them at the Urgent Care in Goodlettsville where he worked.

The alleged victims, who range in age from 19 to 38 years old, took the stand Wednesday and described in detail what happened.

"He tucked my shirt, underneath my bra, and he was looking around for a minute and then slid around and said he was going to have to undo by pants a little bit, my pants were unbuttoned and slid down somewhat, he looked a little bit more and then he slid [my pants] down further and it was my pants and my underwear and they were around my ankles," recalled one alleged victim.

Another said, "He had me roll up my shirt, tucked it into my bra and he took both sides of his hands and instead of pressing down to see if it would hurt, he more of just glided his hands and up down my back, as more of a caress."

Dr. Cowden was arrested in September.

His medical license has since been suspended.
