
DICKSON CO., Tenn. – All lanes of Interstate 40 East in Dickson County, between the Dickson and Kingston Springs exits, have been cleared and reopened after a tour bus fire blocked the interstate for nearly four hours Friday.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at mile marker 180 sometime before 4 p.m.
In a video sent to News 2, flames could be seen coming from the rear of the tour bus.
By 5:30 p.m., all eastbound lanes were blocked and drivers were being diverted to alternate routes.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the bus, en route to Hendersonville from Mississippi, had already broken down on I-40 and was being towed when it caught fire.
No one was on the bus at the time.
It is not clear who owned the bus.
One eastbound lane was reopened by 8 p.m. Friday, as the THP loaded the bus onto a flatbed truck.
The scene was cleared and all lanes of reopened just before 9 p.m.
