Bomb squad uses robot to investigate suspicious package Bomb squad uses robot to investigate suspicious package

LEBANON, Tenn. - A suspicious package found Tuesday afternoon at the Music City Star station in Lebanon is no longer a threat.

Lebanon police said a maintenance worker found the cardboard-like package wrapped in clear plastic near a trash can at about 3:30 p.m. and called police.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol's bomb squad was notified and responded to the scene.

Shortly before 4 p.m., Wilson County Public Safety Commissioner Billy Weeks told News 2 the bomb squad's robot moved the package "out of harm's way."

It was later opened and determined to be only a small wooden stepstool.

Lebanon police said the package was treated as suspicious because the outside of the box was wrapped in clear plastic.

The investigation forced the Metropolitan Transit Authority to cancel the Music City Star train scheduled to depart from Riverfront Station at 4:20 p.m.

The 5:05 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. trains departed from downtown as scheduled.

The incident also disrupted traffic in the area, as a few roads were blocked off while authorities investigated.

MTA put city buses are on standby in the event they were needed to transport passengers home.

Officials said no passengers were ever in danger.
