Dickson Co. School Board rejects budget proposal

Posted:

CHARLOTTE, Tenn. - The Dickson County School Board Tuesday night voted against the county commission's "compromise" budget proposal.

School board members met in Charlotte and voted against the plan 5-0.

The Dickson County Commission must now meet on Wednesday to hammer out another proposal to present to the school board.

Since July, the commission has been faced with the daunting task of balancing the county's budget and funding the current $2.8 million deficit.

The county budget includes the school budget and if it's not passed by October 1, Dickson County schools stand to lose $34 million in education funding.

The director of schools said schools would be forced to close by October 19.
