FRANKLIN, Tenn. - A Williamson County-based company that provides healthcare products to patients with diabetes announced plans Monday to bring more than 300 jobs to the area over the next two years.
Simplex Healthcare, located on Westwood Place in Brentwood, is expanding their headquarters and operations center and moving to the Cool Springs area.
By November, it will occupy more than 91,000 square feet of space on Carothers Parkway.
"I think it's great, especially in times like we're seeing across the country now," said Williamson County Economic Development Director Matt Largen. "It is needed so we're excited about it."
Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson said Simplex Healthcare's decision to expand operations in Williamson County reflects positively on the Nashville area and its reputation as the cradle of healthcare.
Anderson said, "The Nashville region in general and Williamson County in particular are at the center of health are innovation in the United States.
Ralph Schulz, president and CEO of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce says the region is recognized nationally and even internationally, as a "health care industry capital and is well known for nurturing dynamic, innovative healthcare companies like Simplex Healthcare."
Founded in April 2007, Simplex Healthcare has grown to become the third largest mail order supplier of diabetic testing supplies for seniors and serves over 175,000 patients.
Adding 300 employees will more than double the company's current workforce.
Largen said, "Just two years ago, this company had only a handful of employees, now it will have 600, so it just goes to show you how important it is to nurture entrepreneurs both in Williamson County and the Nashville region."
