SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. - A youth minister and former substitute teacher in Springfield, Robertson County faces allegations he sexually abused a 16-year-old female student.
Lt. Jimmy Grogan with the Springfield Police Department confirms 43-year-old Timothy Felts was arrested and charged with five counts of sex abuse by an authority figure.
Police said Felts was formerly employed with the Robertson County School System as a substitute teacher at Springfield High School.
Felts is a youth minister and North Springfield Baptist Church and was formerly employed with the Robertson County School System as a substitute teacher at Springfield High School.
He is not an employee of the school system at this time and reportedly resigned after the allegations surfaced.
The alleged sexual incidents occurred during a three to six month period in early 2009, authorities said.
Felts was booked into the Robertson County jail late last month.
He has since been released on $30,000 bond.
