Lipscomb University hosts largest green living expo

Posted:

Dozens of local and national vendors set up shop at Lipscomb University to promote clean energy and green living.

From solar panels to energy efficient light bulbs, the Green Expo has something for everyone and is the largest green consumer event in Tennessee.

"It's really neat all the businesses that are here and different opportunities you have to learn about everything," said Leslie Key.

More than 70 booths and exhibits were set up by both local vendors and vendors from across the country.

Dodd Galbreath is the executive director for the Institute for Sustainable Practice and Lipscomb University.

"Nashville in particular is trying to establish a brand as a green city, as the greenest city in the southeast," he told News 2.

He said even during a recession, there are more vendors last year and more people interested in green living than ever before.

Linda Earhart and her husband are trying to be more environmentally conscious.

"We want to leave something for our children and feel like we are contributing, not having a big carbon footprint," she said.

Galbreath added, "With Governor Bredesen's investments in recruiting over $3 billion worth of clean energy technology factories, we're already beginning to see big dollar investments and small dollar investments like entrepreneurs who are creating green products and services."

Lipscomb University said they hope to keep the expo and the interest growing every year.
